THIRTEEN SASA STUDENTS LEAVE FOR CANADA
Thirteen Senior Students of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Academy (SASA), twelve grade residential school, Ropar, leave for Canada on invitation of Mr. Terry Lake, Minister for Environment, British Columbia. These students are named as Mr. Gurpinder Singh, Mr. Parminder Singh, Mr. Daljinder Singh, Miss. Navneet Kaur, Miss. Mandeep Kaur, Miss. Diksha, Miss. Harneet Kaur, Miss. Kirti Bhardwaj, Mr. Ramandeep Singh, Mr. Gurkirat Singh, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Mr. Yashpal Singh, Mr. Sahil Tiwari. First they would visit Victoria where they would be received by the Environment Minister in his office in the Parliament. Along with working on various issues on Environment these students have been arranged to visit Beacon Hill Children’s Farm, Miniature World, Royal British Columbia Museum, IMAX Victoria. The students would visit the Royal Roads University where the Director of Academy Mr. Sukhjinder Singh is going to sign the MoU with this University. The Mayor of Victoria Mr. Dean Fortin has specially arranged these students to participate in Canada Day Celebrations on July 01, 2012. The students would visit Science World, Vancouver Art Gallery, Granville Island, Vancouver Aquarium and Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver. They would be got to visit various forests in Kamloops where they are going to prepare a project on ‘Global Warming impact on Canadian Forests’. In Kamloops they would be given activities on Bird Watching, Nature Photography Workshops, Wagon Rides, Wildlife Viewing. They would also visit Thompson River University with which the Academy is already having sister school relations.
Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, M.L.A. Ropar and Advisor to C.M., Punjab flagged off the students. While blessing the students on this occasion he said, “I am proud of the Academy and its students who are working at par with the world with all School Education standards accepted globally. The Academy is not only highlighting Ropar on the world map but also highlighting the Great Name of Sahibzada Ajit Singh the elder son of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji”.
