 ADVISOR TO PRIME MINISTER ON CLIMATE CHANGE IN SASA-INDIA

Ropar – August 27, 2010 - Sahibzada Ajit Singh Academy, the residential school celebrated Van Mahotsav – 2010 in which Advisor to Prime Minister on Climate Change Dr. Srikanta K. Panigrahi and his wife Mrs. Sangita Panigrahi joined as Chief Guest. The couple has been to this region for the first time on special invitation of Mr. Sukhjinder Singh, Founder Director of the school. They inaugurated the foster ceremony at the school where their school adopted District Civil Hospital & Youth Hostel, Rupnagar for making their premises Green with the Vegetation and Plants. They planted the saplings of Silver-Oak (Grevillea robusta) in Youth Hostel and Civil Hospital where they were given warm welcome by the District Administration, Management of Youth Hostel under Sh. Surinder Saini, District youth Co-ordinator and the team of Doctors under Dr. K.C. Goyal, the Chief Medical Officer of the District.

 

Dr. Panigrahi has been formally received at the Academy by Mr. Jatinder Sharma, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest Department of Punjab, Sh. Sucha Singh Mast, ADC, Rupnagar, Sh. Vishal Chauhan, IFS, DFO, Ropar, Dr. Parmar, Chairman, Ropar Improvement Trust & Madam Harminder Kaur on behalf of Govt. of Punjab.

 

SASA-India highlighted its activities in social causes, excellence in Academic Education, their role in Saving the Environment and preparing its students as super people with sound Body, Mind & Soul. They also highlighted how they are concerned not only with the problems of India but also the Global ones for which very often their students go to UNO & other International Conferences and Programmes to represent their views while representing India.

 

Dr. Panigrahi applauded the role of SASA-India in developing their students as the best of the citizens aware of Self, Society & Environment. Speaking on this occasion he gave the message to one and all that no Government can solve any problem unless and until the people are not prepared. He further elaborated that people of India are getting awareness day-by-day and soon India is going to become an example and Role-Model in solving the climate change problems, the need of hour is plantation and saving the existing forests.

 

During this occasion Academy honored Mrs. Maya Gupta wife of Late Mr. V.K. Gupta, the teacher who dedicated his life for the cause of education.
